Albany Has Once Again Missed Its Most Basic Obligation to The People of New York: Delivering An On‑Time Budget.

Albany has once again missed its most basic obligation to the people of New York: delivering an on‑time budget. With the second budget extension filed this week, the pattern is unmistakable. The Democratic majority and the governor have allowed dysfunction to become routine, and New Yorkers are left to shoulder the consequences.

Budget delays are not harmless paperwork issues. They are symptoms of a government that has grown comfortable under one‑party rule, where accountability is scarce and urgency is optional. When leaders no longer feel pressure to justify their decisions, taxpayers become an afterthought.

This year’s proposed expansions would cost the state, local governments, and school districts billions of dollars next year and every year thereafter. Analysts have warned that these commitments could force higher property taxes or drain funding from essential programs. For homeowners already struggling under some of the highest property taxes in the nation, this is not a theoretical concern — it is a direct threat to their financial stability.

Property tax vulnerability has been a central theme of Assembly candidate Fusco’s campaign, and many residents share the concern that, despite reassurances from state officials, tax increases may ultimately be used to cover pension fund shortfalls. Critics argue that dismissing these concerns as “gaslighting” does nothing to address the underlying fiscal reality.

At the same time, the state continues to accelerate renewable‑energy mandates by loosening long‑standing environmental protections. Supporters say these measures are necessary to meet climate goals, but opponents argue that the financial burden falls disproportionately on ratepayers and taxpayers who are already stretched thin. Whether one agrees with the policy or not, the economic impact is undeniable.

New York’s Legislature needs balance — voices willing to question, challenge, and scrutinize decisions that affect millions of residents. Supporters of candidate Fusco argue that electing strong conservative representation is essential to breaking the entrenched influence of downstate leadership and restoring fiscal responsibility.

The people of New York deserve a government that respects deadlines, protects taxpayers, and prioritizes transparency. They deserve an on‑time budget. And they deserve leaders who understand that public service means stewardship, not political convenience. State Assembly in the 119th. District.
