Tax-Payers and Rate-Payers Are Footing The Bill

Since 2019, when the Climate Leadership Community Protection Act (CLCPA) was first enacted, I warned it would be disastrous for utility dependability and affordability. The majority of the NYS legislature and our congressional rep continue down the path of making matters worse at your expense.

In the disguise of affordability, NYS policies continue to favor the foreign interest who control our power companies. This is reflected in the proposed NYS 2026/2027 budget.

New York State’s 2027 budget is poised to influence energy costs through a mix of measures, electrification incentives, and regulatory changes. Governor Kathy Hochul’s proposal includes initiatives claiming to lower utility bills, allocating $50 million to the EmPower Plus program, designed to reduce the cost of home electrification, and ties into a broader $25 billion housing plan that mandates electrifying 50,000 existing homes—steps with high upfront cost and only speculative return on investments.

The appropriated funds will be your tax dollars.

A memo from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) warned that full compliance with the climate law could raise annual household energy bills (rate-payer expenses) by $3,500–$4,000, particularly for upstate gas and oil users.

We need a strong conservative voice in Albany voting against policies that continue to hurt hard-working families while favoring corporations and special interests.

I want to be this voice for you in Albany on the floor of the NYS Assembly.
